Hey, I’m back with another speed draw! This time I’m going to talk about the hardest and trickiest thing to draw, the front cover. Have you ever heard the saying ‘don’t judge a book by it’s cover’? Unfortunately, we still do judge books by their covers, it’s how we decide whether it’s worth our time. A book’s cover is what draws people in, it’s just like those sample taste testers you get in the supermarket. We buy with our eyes. It’s what took me so long to draw up a front cover, because in my mind it needed to be perfect. Something I’ve learnt through all of this, is that it’s ok to not to illustrate and draw the cover first, make the rest of the book first and come back to it. I’ve also learnt to try new things, draft our a few designs 1 to 5, and pick the best layout. The rest will come to you later. You might even find that once you start drawing it more ideas will come up or you will find more things to add or change. The possibilities are endless, anyway what I was trying to get at is just simply start.
